Vivo X Fold 5 available as direct import for almost half the price of a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 – NotebookCheck.net News

Importing the Vivo X Fold 5 is sometimes only half the expected price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. (Image source: Weibo)

Global customers who want to get their hands on the latest Zeiss camera foldable have a few options. We compare prices from two well-known import dealers and also list the (few) restrictions that need to be considered with a Chinese model.

Alexander Fagot (translated by Jacob Fisher), Published 06/28/2025 🇩🇪

It’s not yet available internationally, but the successor to the Vivo X Fold 3 has already been launched in China. So, interested buyers can import it from China; several retailers already have the Zeiss camera foldable on offer for global shipping. In addition to our long-term import partner TradingShenzhen, we also found the Vivo X Fold at Wondamobile in Hong Kong, which is slightly more or less expensive depending on the model.

Both online shops offer the light and thin foldable in three colors: black, white or green. The 12GB/256GB version costs $1,201 at TradingShenzhen and $1,239 at Wondamobile. 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM sets you back $1,517 at TradingShenzhen and $1,489 at Wondamobile. Last but not least, you can find the 1 TB foldable at both TradingShenzhen and Wondamobile for around $1,630, with the green color option at Wondamobile being $30 more expensive.

The Vivo foldable won’t be in stock at the end of June, but shipping is scheduled for “early July” (TradingShenzhen) or between July 8 – 9 (Wondamobile). Compared to the soon-to-be global launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, this is quite affordable. While it remains to be seen just how expensive the Galaxy Z Fold6 successor will be, buyers will likely have to spare at least $2000.

    Import checks

As always with Chinese imports, buyers need to carefully consider the technical differences to global smartphone models and the usual issues of returns and warranty. With Vivo, at least the Android Auto issue is apparently no longer an obstacle and should also work with the Chinese model. LTE band 20 and the usual 5G frequencies are supported. Supported system languages include English, German, Spanish, French, Filipino, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Korean, Indonesian and many others (interested readers can find the full list by scolling down to the end of the specs here). Lastly, Google apps (including Google Pay) are also supported.

eSIM support is still problematic, so those who need this feature will probably have to wait for a possible global Vivo X Fold 5, which has not yet been announced. As Vivo uses Origin OS instead of FunTouch OS in China, the operation and feature set are also slightly different. Users will also have to spend a few minutes removing pre-installed Chinese bloatware.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
