Steam Summer Sale: One of best open-world AAA action RPG by Ubisoft is now less than $10 – NotebookCheck.net News

Assassin’s Creed Origins tells the origin story of the Assassin Brotherhood. (Image source: Ubisoft, Steam, edited)

Set in the Ptolemaic era of ancient Egypt, Assassin’s Creed Origins introduced the whole open-world, action RPG formula, which games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows use. The game is critically acclaimed and, as such, is a fantastic deal for $8.99 in the Steam Summer Sale.

Released in 2017, Assassin’s Creed Origins marked the start of “Role-Playing” Assassin’s Creed games. With its stunning open world, fun combat, and grindy-but-satisfying RPG systems, Assassin’s Creed Origins is considered by many to be the best AC RPG. So, AC fans who were let down by later entries like Valhalla or Shadows will find much to love in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

On that note, AC Origins has become even easier to love thanks to the ongoing Steam Summer Sale, which now lets you keep the game for just $8.99. This is a massive 85% discount on the usual price of Assassin’s Creed Origins. For a critically acclaimed title that offers hours upon hours of enjoyment, $8.99 is a pretty good deal (linked at the end).

Assassin’s Creed Origins recreates ancient Egypt in stunning detail

Among the factors that make Assassin’s Creed Origins great, the Ptolemaic-era ancient Egypt takes the cake as having the biggest impact. Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind the game, managed to recreate ancient Egypt with a level of love and care that, for some people, is absent in many modern open-world RPGs.

From the golden sand dunes and the Nile teeming with crocodiles to ancient temples and pyramids, AC Origins is a treat to explore. The game had the largest map of any AC title back when it released, so you can sink dozens of hours just randomly riding your mount around cities like Alexandria. As for history buffs, Ubisoft’s rendition of ancient Egypt also features forgotten monuments like the Tomb of Alexander the Great, the Library of Alexandria, and more.

Ubisoft Montreal has also done an amazing job with populating the wide open world with things to do. Aside from the main storyline that has our hero, Bayek of Siwa, hunt down the “Order of the Ancients”, gamers can also engage in a plethora of side quests. There are also activities like hunting animals, quests to find hidden treasures, and chariot racing that are not only fun to play but also grant XP. Players can use the earned XP to level up their unlocked skills.

Since Assassin’s Creed Origins has quite robust RPG mechanics, you can expect tons of unlocking/leveling up skills and crafting/upgrading new weapons/armors. These skill unlocks and weapon/armor upgrades are an integral part of AC Origins, as the combat can be downright brutal if you don’t have a high enough level and aren’t properly equipped.

All in all, IGN’s description of AC Origins as a “deep-dive into a truly stunning realization of ancient Egypt, with a rich series of cultures, genuine characters, and more mission variety than any other game in the series” is quite fitting. So, if you’ve never played the game before, the discount offered by the Steam Summer Sale is a perfect opportunity to do so.
