Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra reportedly getting “Flex Magic Pixel” display, entire series to get revamped – NotebookCheck.net News

No Galaxy S26, no Galaxy S26+ and not even a Galaxy S26 Edge in 2026. According to a recent industry report, Samsung is making major changes to its Galaxy S25 successors. And for the first time, an innovative new Samsung display will provide more privacy on the go without a privacy screen.

Alexander Fagot (translated by Jacob Fisher), Published 08/19/2025 🇩🇪

Many people are already using privacy screens or filters on their smartphones, such as the one here on Amazon for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which make it more difficult for nosy bystanders to surreptitiously read your private WhatsApp chats. This functionality will apparently be activated on demand or via AI in the Galaxy S26 Ultra in the future, according to a South Korean industry publication Dealsite, based on statements from the supplier industry.

    AI-driven privacy protection

Accordingly, Samsung plans to install its “Flex Magic Pixel OLED”, which has already been showcased at various trade fairs, into mass production in time for the launch of the Galaxy S26 series. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be the first Samsung product to benefit from this innovative new display, which uses AI to automatically limit the maximum possible viewing angle of the display pixels for sensitive content such as banking apps, so that only those who are actually looking directly at the display can view the content. This is also intended to avoid the side effects commonly associated with external films, such as loss of brightness.

COE technology essential for Flex Magic Pixel OLED

Following the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to feature the display feature in July 2026. There have already been indications in the past of another display technology called CoE (Color Filter on Encapsulation), which is already used in current Samsung foldables. This replaces the polarizer with a color filter, which not only saves energy and reduces display thickness, but will also be essential for preventing brightness loss due to the use of Flex Magic Pixel in the future.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Air in 2026

The industry report provides another exciting detail: The redesign of the Galaxy S26 lineup is apparently going far beyond replacing the Plus model. It has already been reported that Samsung apparently plans to call the 6.3-inch base model the Galaxy S26 Pro in the future, but it will apparently not be accompanied by a Galaxy S26 Edge but rather a Galaxy S26 Air, clearly an adaptation of the iPhone 17 Air, which Apple first expected in September. It should be noted, of course, that all of these plans have not yet been officially confirmed and are subject to change until the launch of the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026.
