With the A9 Mega, Geekom is launching a mini PC that redefines the boundaries between compact design and high-end performance. Equipped with the latest AMD hardware, powerful AI acceleration and extensive connectivity, it aims to be nothing less than a serious alternative to large workstations and Apple’s Mac Studio.
With the A9 Mega, Geekom has announced a powerful mini PC with an AMD Stix Halo APU. The manufacturer packs the performance and features of a high-end desktop into an elegant, compact housing. Made from robust aluminum and featuring CNC details, it combines high-quality design with extreme computing power. At its heart is the new AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with up to 16 cores and 32 threads, combined with up to 128 GB LPDDR5X RAM, which can also be flexibly assigned to the powerful iGPU.
A particular highlight is the AI performance: thanks to XDNA 2 NPU and a total performance of up to 126 TOPS, even large models such as Stable Diffusion or LLaMA can be run locally and efficiently – a clear advantage for developers and creative workloads.
The range of connections is extremely extensive. Among other things, several USB ports, two of which are also available as fast USB4 ports, HDMI 2.1, dual 2.5 GB LAN, Wi-Fi 7 including Bluetooth 5.4 cover almost all application scenarios. This is complemented by support for up to 8 TB SSD storage and a powerful cooling system that ensures stable performance even under high continuous load. According to the specifications, the cooling unit should be able to dissipate 120 watts of power consumption from the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395.
With pre-installed Windows 11 Pro and Linux compatibility, the A9 Mega is aimed at power users who are looking for a compact and visually appealing system. In terms of price, it starts at around $1,899 USD – and is therefore significantly lower than comparable workstations or Mac Studio configurations or the HP Z2 Mini G1a.
The device can be viewed at IFA, although availability is not expected until the later half of the year.
