Lenovo Tab P12 Pro and Xbox Remote Play: A smooth combo – NotebookCheck.net News

Getting started with Xbox Remote Play on the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro was straightforward. (Image source – Lenovo)

Released November 19, 2021, the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro doubles as a portable Xbox Remote Play screen with 60 FPS, low latency, and stunning AMOLED visuals.

When you think of high-end tablets, the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro isn’t always the first device that comes to mind for gaming on the Xbox Series X/S in 2025. Yet, paired with Xbox Remote Play, it transforms into a portable console screen with surprisingly solid results. Armed with the Precision Pen 3, the tablet is designed for productivity and creativity, but it also turns out to be an excellent device for casual and even competitive gaming.

    Set up and streaming impressions

Getting started with Xbox Remote Play on the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro was straightforward. After syncing the tablet with my Xbox Series S and pairing a controller, via USB, I was quickly inside my library, ready to test out some titles.

The 12.6-inch AMOLED display immediately stood out. Colors popped, blacks looked much deeper, and everything felt far richer than I initially expected from a tablet doubling as a gaming monitor.

Performance: Smooth, stable, with low latency

The screenshot below tells the story… Initially a test image from Disney Dreamlight Valley, which made me even more intrigued to test out other games. Here are the stats:

    • Resolution: 1920 × 1080
    • FPS: 60
    • Ping: 17ms
    • Bitrate: 11.0 Mbps
    • Jitter: 1ms
    • Packet Loss: 0%

This combination means gaming feels as smooth as playing directly on the console. The 60 FPS makes a huge difference in responsiveness, while the low ping ensures input delay is minimal. No noticeable stuttering, no dropped frames, and zero packet loss — it’s about as good as streaming gets.

    Game-by-game testing

    Assassin’s Creed Shadows

One of the more demanding titles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, ran beautifully. The streaming handled the open-world environments without artifacting, and the AMOLED panel delivered sharp contrast during stealth missions at night.

    Roblox

Roblox is far less demanding; however, it showcased how well the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro handles lighter graphics loads. Movement was fluid, and each input was instantaneous, and my experience mirrored native console play.

    Fortnite

Fast-paced and competitive, Fortnite is often the real test for input lag. Here, the Lenovo Tab P12 Pro impressed: aiming felt responsive, and the building mechanics worked seamlessly, even though I prefer Zero Build, and I never felt disadvantaged by streaming.

    Minecraft

Minecraft’s blocky environments looked crisp on the AMOLED display. The tablet handled quick movements and multiplayer sessions without a sweat… proving its reliability for casual gaming.

    Graphics and display quality

The 12.6-inch AMOLED display at 2K resolution (2560 × 1600 natively) makes a huge difference in how games look. While Remote Play streams at 1080p, the upscale is sharp and vibrant. HDR content particularly shines, adding depth to games much like Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

    Internet stability and streaming strength

Remote Play lives and dies by internet stability, and in this test, the numbers were excellent. With 17 ms ping and zero packet loss, the stream maintained a consistent bitrate of 11 Mbps, proving that a strong network makes all the difference.

Lenovo Tab P12 Pro with Precision Pen 3 specifications:

    • Processor (CPU): Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 (octa-core, up to 3.2 GHz)
    • Graphics (GPU): Adreno 650
    • RAM: 6 GB or 8 GB LPDDR5 (8 GB best for gaming)
    • Storage: 128 GB / 256 GB UFS 3.1 + microSD support (up to 1 TB exFAT)
    • Display: 12.6-inch AMOLED, 2560 × 1600 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ / Dolby Vision, ~600 nits brightness
    • Battery: 10,200 mAh (supports 45W fast charging)
    • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (with DisplayPort support)
Bonus image! Dragon Age: The Veilguard. (Image source: Darryl Linington – Notebookcheck)

Verdict: More than just a productivity tablet

The Lenovo Tab P12 Pro with Precision Pen 3 may be sold as a creative and productivity tool, but in my experience, it doubles as an excellent Xbox Remote Play device. Whether you’re exploring feudal Japan in Assassin’s Creed Shadows or casually building in Minecraft, the gameplay felt smooth, responsive, and visually striking.

For gamers with a Lenovo Tab P12 Pro already in hand, this is one of the best secondary uses for the tablet. It’s portable, has a stunning display, and with the right internet setup, it delivers console-quality gaming anywhere in the house.
