T-Mobile brings Starlink satellite Internet data to older phones and video call apps – NotebookCheck.net News

T-Mobile promised to bring satellite Internet data directly to phones via its T-Satellite partnership with Starlink, and it has now delivered. The Starlink data service has now expanded to more T-Mobile phones and optimized apps.

T-Mobile said that its T-Satellite Starlink data service will hit phones in October, and it has now made good on that promise with a drastic phone model support expansion.

T-Satellite launched its data service ahead of schedule on select handsets like the Google Pixel 10 series, or the Samsung Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7 that is currently discounted on Amazon. Now, however, the Starlink data service is expanding to many other compatible iPhones, Samsung Galaxies, or Motorola phones.

    T-Mobile Starlink data compatible phones

    • Apple: iPhone 13 to iPhone 17 series, iPhone Air, iPhone SE 3
    • Samsung: Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S25 series, A36, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6
    • Google: Pixel 10 series
    • Motorola: Moto G 5G 2025, Moto G Power 5G 2025

Starlink satellite data connectivity outside cellular coverage is also “coming soon” to the Google Pixel 9 and Moto Razr 2025 series, as well as to a number of older Samsung Galaxies like the S22 and S23 series, and even to budget handsets ranging from the Galaxy A15 to the Galaxy A56.

    T-Satellite Starlink data compatible apps

Starlink has worked with app developers to expand its initial roster of T-Satellite apps optimized for data beamed down from its direct-to-cell constellation. Upon the exclusive T-Satellite date service launch on Pixel 10 phones, optimized apps only included Google ones like Maps, but now T-Mobile lists all T-Satellite-ready apps as follows:

    • T-Life: Customers can see and launch satellite-ready apps, share their location via SMS, and chat live with a built-in helper to answer T-Satellite questions.
    • AllTrails: Find your next hike as you navigate and share your location in real-time on Android phones.
    • AccuWeather: Localized forecasts down to the minute, plus real-time storm alerts for your exact location.
    • CalTopo: Create custom maps for your next hike, ski trip, or climb and track your location in real time to stay safe with features like slope angle shading and wildfire activity layers.
    • onX: Backcountry, Hunt, Offroad, and Fish onX app suite support to discover hiking trails, powder stashes, camp sites, public and private property boundaries, two-track and single track, as well as fishing lakes.
    • X: Post text, photos, GIFs, or videos with high-res media loading controls.
    • WhatsApp: Send messages, voice notes, share photos, or video call a group chat.

While not exactly the Starlink 5G carrier service that Elon Musk envisions just yet, the T-Satellite data option expansion on T-Mobile brings basic media messaging and outdoorsy apps to all of its popular phones and comes included with its premium plans.

SpaceX has asked for an FCC permission to launch up to 15,000 of these direct-to-cell satellites, so T-Mobile’s Starlink data speeds and coverage will only be growing from here.
