Oppo Watch S launching very soon with EKG and 3,000 nits AMOLED display in 8.9 mm housing – NotebookCheck.net News

At 8.9 millimeters, the Oppo Watch S is thinner than most competitors. (Image source: Oppo)

At a height of 8.9 millimeters, the Oppo Watch S is one of the thinnest smartwatches on the market, but still offers a battery life of up to ten days and a wide range of functions, including an ECG and skin temperature sensor.

Hannes Brecher (translated by Jacob Fisher), Published 10/15/2025 🇩🇪

The Oppo Watch S is set to outperform the rival smartwatches thanks to its particularly thin case, as the device is only 8.9 millimeters thick but still water-resistant up to 5 ATM. Oppo advertises a battery life of ten days in energy-saving mode. A battery life of four days is said to be possible under normal use and with the always-on display activated.

The round watch has a diameter of 45 millimeters, which is enough to accommodate a 1.46-inch AMOLED display. The panel has a resolution of 464 x 464 and a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits, which should keep the screen legible in sunlight. The catch, however, is that full brightness is only available in selected sports modes, as Oppo normally limits the brightness to 1,500 nits to conserve battery life.

The Oppo Watch S houses a power-efficient BES2800BP processor, paired with 4 GB of eMMC flash storage, which should be more than enough space for the power-efficient ColorOS Watch 7.1 operating system. Contactless payments is supported thanks to an integrated NFC chip, and a GPS module is also on board. In addition to a heart rate and SpO2 sensor, Oppo includes an electrocardiogram (ECG) and a skin temperature sensor. The Oppo Watch S comes with over 1,000 watch faces and more than 100 sports modes.

    Price and availability

Pricing and availability details for the Oppo Watch S are expected to be officially confirmed on Thursday, October 16. The smartwatch will initially launch in China; Oppo has not yet announced whether an international launch is planned.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
