Australia v India at Optus Stadium, Perth on October 19, 2025, is the opening match of a three-match One Day International (ODI) series between the first- and third-placed teams in the ICC rankings.

The number one ranked side, India, welcome back Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to their squad for the first time since the Champions Trophy final in March. They will be captained by Shubman Gill, who has succeeded Rohit as the ODI captain.

However, Jasprit Bumrah has been rested, and Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant miss out due to injury.

Australia, again skippered by Mitchell Marsh in Pat Cummins’ absence through injury, have included uncapped ODI players Matt Renshaw and Mitchell Owen. Mitchell Starc, who hasn’t played ODIs since last November, has also been recalled by the hosts.

Australia hold the upper hand in meetings between these sides Down Under, with 38 wins to India’s 14. However, India won the most recent series in Australia 2–1, in November and December 2020. India also won the most recent series between the two sides in September 2023 in India.
