Owlcat Games has launched a free game development learning resource, featuring over 350 learning resources including software recommendations, tutorials, and online courses.

The resource – GameDev Learning Drop – saw Owlcat Games partner with Fireshine Games, 11 Bit Studios, Gaijin Entertainment, and Midwest Games to build the database.

As reported by PC Gamer, the developer intends to expand and update the GameDev Learning Drop with materials provided by other studios and publishers.

“Any developer or publisher can submit material to the database, where it’s then reviewed, categorized, and curated to ensure the quality of the contributions,” said Owlcat Games head of publishing Andrey Tsvetkov.

“After the submissions are vetted, they’re formatted into a structured, user-friendly resource available to the entire game dev community.”

New resources can be submitted to the GameDev Learning Drop website, or sent to contact@owlcat.games.

“We firmly believe that showing support for open knowledge fosters collaboration and connection, which we feel is something the industry could use more of right now,” Tsvetkov added.

“There are a lot of materials out there, and to be honest, not every one of them deserves attention. So it’s good when you have an actual human review things and say, ‘OK, this is really useful material for juniors to pick up.'”

Last year, Owlcat Games expanded into publishing. It has already signed two RPGs developed by Emotion Spark Studio and Another Angle Games.

As part of its publishing services, it provides new panthers developing RPGs with “all the services, funding, and expert advice they need.”
