Every year, the night sky offers many surprises. And currently, a meteor shower can be seen at night, and needless to say that the show could be spectacular.

First spotted in the year 902, the Leonids made a lasting impression in the 1800s, when more than 50,000 to 200,000 meteors were visible per hour. But coming from the comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle, which has an orbital period of 33 years, this meteor shower frequently varies in intensity.

Indeed, in 2008 and 2009, only 100 meteors were visible per hour. And this year, we should not expect to see more than 15 meteors per hour.

However, while this may seem insignificant, especially compared to the Perseids, it is important to note that these meteors can be very bright. In addition, they sometimes leave a long green trail in the sky, which can remain visible for several minutes.

And if it takes place in the Leo constellation, it is important to note that several peaks of activity are expected. Indeed, November 9 could be a great opportunity, as well as November 17 and 18.

But be careful, because if you want to watch it, there are some tips to keep in mind. You will need to get away from any light pollution and not use your smartphone, because its brightness will prevent you from seeing any potential meteors.
