Galaxy S26 could give you more power, battery life, and storage, all without added bulk

A closer look at the latest leak reveals how Samsung is refining performance and efficiency without changing the feel of its next flagship.

What’s happened? Renowned tipster @UniverseIce has shared the specifications of the purported Galaxy S26 and how it compares to the current-generation Galaxy S25.

    • As seen in the side-by-side spec comparison, the Galaxy S26 could feature a slightly larger 6.3-inch screen (vs. 6.2 inches on the Galaxy S25).
    • However, the peak brightness and the maximum supported refresh rate remain the same.
    • Under the hood, the Galaxy S26 will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm) chipset in the United States, and Samsung’s Exynos 2600 in other markets.

Why is this important? It also appears that Samsung is finally doing away with 128GB storage variants with the baseline Galaxy S series handset. Storage could start at 256GB for the Galaxy S26.

    • However, the camera setup, including the 50MP primary sensor, 12MP ultrawide sensor, and the 10MP telephoto sensor, might remain the same.
    • The front camera on the Galaxy S26 should also remain the same as that on the Galaxy S25: a 12MP selfie camera.
    • On the positive side, the handset could feature a larger 4,300 mAh battery that should last a couple of more hours between charges, with similar charging speeds.

Why should I care? Despite an increase in the battery capacity, the Galaxy S26 might only gain two grams in weight, which is practically negligible.

    • In fact, the company could make the handset 0.3mm slimmer (7.2mm vs. 6.9mm).
    • Moreover, the Galaxy S26 could receive several meaningful updates, such as a more powerful chipset, higher storage on the base variant, and a larger battery. This should be good news for anyone planning to purchase the smartphone at launch.

OK, what’s next? Unlike the Galaxy S26, the Galaxy S26+ might not get as many upgrades. The leaked specifications from the tipster suggest that the S26+ could borrow its entire spec sheet, except for weight, from the Galaxy S25+, except for a new chipset.

    • For now, the first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2026 is expected to take place in mid- to late-January.
    • At the event, the company should unveil three smartphones: the vanilla Galaxy S26, the Galaxy S26+, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
    • Most recently, the Galaxy S26 Ultra was rumored to feature faster wired and wireless charging.

I am drowning in subscriptions, but I finally found an iPhone app to fix the chaos

It’s hard to avoid subscriptions in the modern age, but it’s easy to track them and make some necessary cuts.

We live in the era of subscriptions. It’s not ideal, and the fatigue of recurring app payments is ruining the smartphone experience for many. Even web browsers have firmly entered the subscription era, thanks in no small part to AI. But the duty of managing multiple subscriptions is a hassle in itself, aside from the obvious financial hit.

And if you’re like me, who manages all kinds of academic and creative subscriptions for siblings, it becomes a massive headache. On top of it all, those random emails about recurring auto-payments, which land out of the blue in the notifications shade, often deal an unsavory surprise.
