Free-to-play on Steam: Fast roguelite arena shooter lands with full release and heavy replay value – NotebookCheck.net News
Power Fantasy has officially launched on Steam as a free-to-play top-down action shooter with roguelite elements. Featuring multiple heroes, fast combat, and a progression system built on repeatable runs, the game offers high replay value at no cost to try.
Power Fantasy has just arrived on Steam with its full launch, and it’s free to play from day one. The game has been floating around in early access for a while, but the final release is now out for everyone to try without spending anything upfront.
It’s a fast-paced top-down action game built around short, repeatable runs where survival gets harder every minute. You choose a hero, jump into chaotic arenas, and fight off waves of enemies while juggling weapon upgrades, perks, and special abilities. Every run ends eventually, but whatever progress you make feeds back into a meta-upgrade system – so each attempt feels a little stronger than the last.
The roster is surprisingly large for a free title, with multiple characters with different playstyles and abilities. There’s also a progression grid powered by “Blood Rubies,” which you earn by playing and use to unlock new boosts and content. The game puts a lot of emphasis on replay value, which is evident in different difficulty levels and a long list of achievements waiting to be completed.
The visual style is simple pixel art with a bullet-hell style of enemy attacks filling the screen. Runs tend to get messy fast, which is a part of the fun – sometimes you’re navigating carefully, and sometimes you’re just trying to stay alive for five more seconds. It should scratch the same itch as games like Vampire Survivors or Brotato, but with a little more direct control and combat.
One of the more welcome decisions is that Power Fantasy keeps its core experience fully free, without locking progress behind paywalls. Optional support items and cosmetics might show up later, but nothing stops you from playing everything that matters. Plus, the developers say they plan to continue adding new content based on community feedback, with more characters and upgrades likely on the way. For now, it’s an easy game to recommend if you enjoy fast action with a steady sense of progression – and there’s no reason not to give it a shot since it costs nothing to download.
