Limited edition PlayStation wristwatch comes in retro design and with NFC memory card – NotebookCheck.net News

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, Sony and Anicorn are releasing a strictly limited edition analog wristwatch, which aims to impress with retro colors, large PlayStation symbols and plenty of goodies for fans.

Hannes Brecher (translated by Jacob Fisher), Published 12/15/2025 🇩🇪

Anicorn has unveiled the first officially licensed PlayStation watch. While the wristwatch is a bit late to the party, it was nevertheless developed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original PlayStation from 1994. The watch’s stainless steel case is finished in classic PlayStation beige.

The dial features the iconic PlayStation symbols: circle, triangle, square and X. The hour and minute hands are decorated with the symbols of the Start and Select buttons from a classic DualShock controller, while the second hand is significantly thinner. The classic, colorful PlayStation logo is positioned in the center of the dial. The case back displays a serial number from 001 to 300 and features a window offering a view of the watch’s movement.

The watch features a Miyota 9039 movement, which needs to be wound at least every 42 hours using the crown. The included FKM strap is gray to match the watch and printed with PlayStation symbols. The watch is water-resistant to 5 ATM, and sapphire crystal protects the dial. Anicorn includes a “Memory Card”, an NFC chip in a plastic casing faithfully replicating a memory card from the original PlayStation. When the card is held against a smartphone, a digital “memory board” opens, allowing users to store memories.

    Price and availability

The Anicorn PlayStation 30th Anniversary Limited Edition watch is limited to just 300 units worldwide. Orders will open on Friday, December 19 in the manufacturer’s online shop. The watch costs $780. Shipping is free; according to Anicorn, the price includes all customs duties, although it likely excludes import VAT. Delivery is expected to begin in June 2026.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
