Framework Laptop receives another price increase after just one week – NotebookCheck.net News
Not only is RAM becoming increasingly expensive, but hard drives and SSDs now also cost significantly more than they did just a few weeks ago. Framework is now one of the first laptop manufacturers to react to this trend, raising the price of the Framework Laptop for the second time in just one week.
The Framework Laptop 12, 13 and 16 models became more expensive last week after the manufacturer reacted to rapidly rising RAM costs. Now, Framework has announced another price increase, this time affecting the SSDs.
Framework is now charging €92 for a 500 GB SSD, €150 for a 1 TB SSD, and a whopping €259 for a 2 TB SSD. This represents an increase of €13 to €35, depending on the capacity. It is currently significantly cheaper to buy the SSD separately than directly from Framework, as the same WD Black SN7100 M.2 SSD costs only €64 on Amazon with a capacity of 500 GB, the 1 TB version is offered for €109, and the 2 TB model for €190.

A comparison of prices makes it clear that prices have risen dramatically over the past few weeks. A WD Black SN7100 with 1 TB of storage was still available for €69 in October, but currently costs at least €99. PC Part Picker shows a similar trend in its analysis of the US SSD market.
Framework expects SSD prices to continue to rise in the first half of 2026. The reason for this drastic price increase is the same as for RAM: demand is currently significantly higher than supply, not least because fast NAND memory is an important component for AI applications and data centers. Consumers will have to pay the price for OpenAI’s greed in 2026, as virtually all laptops, many smartphones, and even game consoles such as the Nintendo Switch 2Â are expected to become more expensive.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
