Amazon is giving away freebies every week on its redesigned game-focused platform, Luna. Throughout this month, there are a total of 14 freebies planned, and among them, nine have already become available to claim.

Right before Christmas, Amazon has added two more freebies, and the timing of these additions is a little different, as they were unlocked on a Tuesday, specifically on December 23, 2025. Generally, the free games become available every Thursday.

Getting back to new free games that were added to the giveaway lineup, both are critically acclaimed titles: Fallout and Fallout 2. These are considered to be classic post-apocalyptic RPGs, and among the two, the original was released in 1997. This first entry follows the Vault Dweller on a quest, and it starts the core storyline of the series.

As for Fallout 2, it was released in 1998 and is considered to be a proper sequel. The game expands on the world and lets players experience the retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic world as the grandchild of the first protagonist.

Both the current free games on Amazon Luna have turn-based combat mechanics with an action point system. Players get to customize the stats of their character, and this customization affects the overall gameplay. Another notable aspect of these titles is that the quests can be approached from different angles, through all-out combat or stealth.

While the original Fallout excels in many aspects, the companions can feel a bit clunky, and many noted that the combat pace is slow. As for Fallout 2, the game shines in character design, exploration, and vehicle mechanics. However, there’s a steep learning curve, and the reputation system can feel punishing sometimes.

When not on sale, Fallout goes for $9.99 (curr. $2.50 on Humble Bundle), and it currently features a 94% positive rating on Steam with over 10,700 reviews. Fallout 2 generally costs $9.99 as well, and it currently sports a 94% positive rating with over 8,300 reviews. Both will be available as free games on Amazon Luna until January 27, 2026.
