Fallout 4 has doubled the amount of concurrent players on Steam since the season two premiere of Amazon’s Fallout series.

As noted by PC Gamer (with data from SteamDB), the number of players has increased from an average of 20,000 to over 40,000 since the show returned on December 16, 2025.

Fallout: New Vegas had an average of 8,000 players prior to the new season premiere, which jumped to almost 20,000 last weekend.

Fallout Shelter also saw a significant increase in players following an update with characters from the show, while players in Fallout 3 and the original Fallout also rose.

After the first season of Fallout aired in April 2024, Fallout 4, New Vegas, and 76 were in the Top 10 across all platforms in the US in May.

Fallout 4 was the fifth best-selling game in the US during the show’s premiere month, with Fallout 76 in eighth place. Over in Europe, Fallout 4 reached the top spot for the week ending April 19, 2024, rising 7,500% week-on-week.

It is worth noting that most games in the franchise were also discounted as a tie-in with the TV show, which started airing on April 11.

Data from Sensor Tower also found that daily active users were 225% higher for Fallout 3 and 4 in the weeks following the show’s premiere.

Further data from Ampere Analysis last year found that Fallout’s first season boosted monthly active users of the franchise by 490%.

Amazon’s Fallout series has been greenlit for a third season. When its first season aired, the show reached 65 million viewers in its first two weeks.
