Compact Honor Magic8 Pro Air steals the show from the Magic8 RSR Porsche Edition in unboxing and teaser videos – NotebookCheck.net News
Thin, compact and powerful. The Honor Magic8 Pro Air is now being touted on social media as the star of the Honor Magic8 series, which will soon be expanded in China to include the Magic 8 RSR in Porsche Design. The first official teaser videos and an unboxing of the two dissimilar new smartphones are accompanied by a leak of all the Magic8 Pro Air specs.
The design and initial specifications of the Honor Magic8 Pro Air have been known since last week thanks to the leak of official images. Over the weekend, there was talk for the first time of fairly comprehensive camera specs within the ultra-thin 6.1 mm chassis. Now, the full specs of this powerful, slim device have just surfaced, showing Apple and Samsung how to build thin flagship smartphones without too many compromises.
As you can see from the machine-translated hands-on images below and the comparison image of all Honor Magic8 phones above, the Magic8 Pro Air is not only thinner but also more compact. Instead of a 6.71-inch display, Honor has installed a 6.31-inch OLED panel with a dynamic 1-120 Hz refresh rate, 2,640 x 1,216 resolution and 6,000 nits peak brightness, with Dolby Vision support.
Dimensity 9500 instead of Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
The Pro Air model is the only one in the Magic8 quartet to feature Mediatek’s latest Dimensity 9500, which will result in slightly lower benchmark performance. However, given the rest of the specs, including a 5,500 mAh battery with 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging, it’s quite impressive just how packed with flagship technology the Honor MagicPro Air is in its compact 150.5 x 71.9 x 6.1 mm chassis. Honor’s first official teaser video demonstrates just how much has been packed into its tiny body:

The Magic8 RSR, which also launches in China on January 19, 2026, only appears to offer the Porsche Design as an advantage over the regular Honor Magic8 Pro this year, which is now slowly launching in Europe as well.
Unboxing video of the two new Honor phones
Numerous unboxing videos of both the Magic8 Pro Air and the Honor Magic8 RSR are already circulating online. Below, we’ve opted for a short and concise version showcasing the unboxing of both new Honor phones.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
