Google I/O 2026: Dates, Rumors, News, and Everything Else To Know
Google I/O is an annual conference for developers held by the tech giant. I/O stands for ‘input/output,’ a classic computing term referencing communication between a computer and the outside world.
What Are the Dates for Google I/O?
Google I/O 2026 is expected to take place in May.
How to Register and Attend
The event is free and open to all. You can register with your Google account at the official Google I/O website.
Use the Google I/O website to stream the event or catch it on Google’s YouTube channel.
How Much Is Google I/O?
There is no fee to attend. The online event has been free since 2021.
Where Is Google I/O Held?
Google I/O takes place at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. Google is located in that city, about 40 miles south of downtown San Francisco.
Much of the event is virtual, but a limited number of attendees also participate onsite.
What Will Google Announce at I/O 2026?
We don’t have any details yet about what will happen at the next event, but we guess Google will further develop its Gemini platform.
It’s also reasonable to expect a mention of Android 17 ahead of its release, which is expected in late 2026. A new version of Wear OS could make an appearance, too.
The company has also used I/O to drop new hardware, like Pixel phones and tablets.

An experimental mode called Deep Think helps with complex tasks like math and coding. It’s available only to selected testers. Additionally, the 2.5 Flash model is now widely accessible and improved in AI Studio.
