The DockFrame is perhaps the most versatile USB-C hub in the world, as the hub uses the same modules as the Framework Laptop. This allows users to freely configure the selection of ports and install a small SSD, among other things.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Framework Laptop is the modular and repairable design, which makes it possible to replace the notebook’s four to six ports with any tools. An engineer has now applied this concept to a USB-C hub and developed the so-called DockFrame.
This hub features four slots, each of which holds a Framework-compatible expansion card. Framework currently offers 24 different expansion cards, so customers can decide whether the hub should offer USB-A and USB-C ports, Ethernet, a 3.5mm headphone jack or an HDMI port to hook up a monitor. HW Media Labs is the company behind DockFrame and plans to offer several modules of its own later on.
One of these modules is a mini SSD that with speeds of up to 3,700 MB/s. Just like the other modules, this mini SSD is connected via USB-C, so it can also be used with a wide range of other USB-C devices and even smartphones like the Galaxy S25.
The manufacturer of this new USB-C hub also offers a multimeter card, a microcontroller developer card and a power supply module. Due to the open Framework ecosystem, more expansion modules will likely become available over time. HW Media Labs has not yet confirmed the price and launch date of the DockFrame, but those who are interested in the hub can already submit their email address to get updates on this interesting product.
