XHTML Club
Xtreme HyperText Movement for Luddites
Greetings, this is the official XHTML club (and blog)! This website is both a collection of XHTML valid websites and a simple blog; a lonely software developer screaming out into the abyss of the internet. Ranting and raving about the ever increasing bloat that is the “modern” web.
What XHTML Club Actually Is
Simply put: it’s a collection of XHTML valid websites. That’s it. There’s no “classic web” manifesto or any call to “return to the days of the old internet!”. This is just a place where valid XHTML is respected, even if the rest of the internet has long since moved on.
Why Bother?
I fully understand how pointless this might seem to some people. XHTML has long been replaced, with HTML5 being the current king of the hypertext markup world. Validation is ignored, and most modern sites are built with little concern for structure or longevity. Today’s web is severely lacking in quality craftsmanship. Still, there’s value in doing things properly, even when it’s scoffed at by modern age internet users. XHTML Club isn’t here to shame or persuade, instead my hope is to make you more aware about the quality of your HTML. It’s here to show that valid markup still exists and that some of us still care enough to build it that way.
