2025 turned out to be a massive year for Steam, both in terms of player activity and revenue. The platform generated billions over the year, ending 2025 on a very strong note. In December 2025 alone, Steam brought in around $1.6 billion in revenue. That figure was 22.7% higher than December 2024, showing strong year-over-year growth. And it seems like a big portion of Steam’s 2025 revenue came from co-op games.

According to Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics, games with co-op modes generated $8.2 billion in gross revenue on Steam in 2025. This marks a 9% increase compared to 2024 and is also the highest co-op revenue ever recorded on the platform. 

Elliott also pointed out that this growth is not a short-term trend. Both 2024 and 2025 managed to beat the previous high set in 2021, a year when the COVID pandemic pushed shared gaming experiences to new levels. While many expected interest in co-op games to slow down after that period, the data suggests the opposite. After a small correction, momentum has picked up again, and co-op games are now growing faster than before.

When we look at the games, seven of the top new titles of the year leaned heavily into cooperative gameplay and performed exceptionally well. Monster Hunter Wilds led the group, generating $376 million. It was followed by ARC Raiders with $206 million, and Schedule I at $153 million. REPO reached $150 million, while Borderlands 4 brought in $128 million. Split Fiction earned $118 million, a figure that already accounts for Friend Pass access. Finally, Elden Ring Nightreign generated $116 million. Together, these seven games earned over $1.2 billion in revenue on Steam in 2025.
