Hands-On Samsung Galaxy Book6 Series: All models, prices, and launch date – NotebookCheck.net Reviews
The top model in the new series is the Galaxy Book6 Ultra, which is equipped with up to an Intel Core Ultra X9 processor from the third Core Ultra generation (Panther Lake). However, the top-of-the-line version will not be available in Germany initially, but “only” the Core Ultra X7. Either an Intel Arc B390, a GeForce RTX 5060, or an RTX 5070 is used as the graphics unit. The device now measures 15.4 millimeters in height and weighs either 1.79 or 1.89 kilograms, depending on the configuration.
The 16-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x touch display offers a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, supports an adaptive refresh rate of 30 to 120 Hz, and, according to Samsung, achieves a peak brightness of up to 1,000 nits in HDR mode and 500 nits in SDR mode. Gorilla Glass 5 with an anti-reflective DXC coating is used for protection. In an initial quick measurement with an Opple Lightmaster, the Galaxy Book6 Ultra shows a PWM frequency of 240 Hz.
An enlarged vapor chamber is said to make cooling about 35 percent more efficient. We subjected the notebook to an initial load test using FurMark 2. In the 1,440p benchmark, the fans are clearly audible but not too loud. However, we also noticed a quiet whining noise coming from the test device.
The connectivity options include two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB-A port, one HDMI 2.1 port, and an SD card slot. The latter supports UHS-II with up to 312 MB/s (UHS-I: up to 104 MB/s), but not SD Express. The battery has a capacity of around 80.2 Wh.
The Galaxy Book 6 Ultra, which is available exclusively in gray, comes with up to 32 GB of RAM and a maximum of 2 TB of SSD storage. A model with 64 GB of RAM is not currently available in Germany due to high memory prices. Sound is provided by six Dolby Atmos speakers, which delivered rich, wide sound in an initial listening test.
All in all, the Galaxy Book 6 Ultra is a high-quality, powerful notebook, but it is quite heavy and can also be very expensive.
