Raspberry Pi has quietly introduced a new Raspberry Pi 4 Model B variant. Arriving days after Raspberry Pi 5 price increases (curr. $137 on Amazon), the new variant makes limited technical changes to the company’s older single-board computer (SBC).

Specifically, the company has announced the Raspberry Pi 4 Dual RAM variant. Dubbed the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.5, the new version principally adopts a dual-RAM configuration. In a new Product Information Portal (PCN) document, Raspberry Pi also clarifies that its Dual RAM benefits from improved manufacturing efficiencies via intrusive reflow soldering, too.

Additionally, the company cites the first change as a response to ongoing supply chain uncertainty and component price pressures. From a user perspective, the new Rev 1.5 board simply adds a second RAM chip on its underside. Thus, the new release remains compatible with all existing accessories and software stacks. Currently, the only snag that Raspberry Pi warns of is that bootloader versions released on or after January 9, 2026 must be installed. Please see the company’s PDF for more details.
