The next Pokémon Day looks jam-packed with new and announced creature-catching titles. Still, the rumored Pokémon Gen 10 could steal the show, with an open-world island-hopping adventure. Fans have anticipated a reveal for the Switch 2 game since the Teraleak data breach.
As the Pokémon Presents showcase on February 27th approaches, fans continue to speculate about what Switch and Switch 2 games might appear. Pory_Leeks has shared a list of expected titles, which include the rumored Pokémon Wind and Waves. This prediction isn’t surprising, but Nintendo hasn’t officially confirmed the Gen 10 release.
Wind and Waves is Nintendo’s worst-kept secret
The infamous Teraleak already unleashed a treasure trove of details about the next mainline Pokémon game. Images and documents related to the project spread as part of the massive Game Freak data breach.
Without major changes to earlier builds, Pokémon Gen 10 will take place on a chain of procedurally generated Southeast Asian islands. As part of a large-scale open-world endeavor, trainers would likely be able to travel between these locations.
Judging by the screenshots, Wind and Waves will boast significantly higher-quality visuals than Scarlet and Violet. Even so, fresh gameplay mechanics may also revamp the catch-train-fight loop. Weather conditions could impact battles, with combatants able to harness the power of nature. While turn-based, these encounters aim to be more fluid than the action in Arceus.
Ever since the Teraleak surfaced, gamers have targeted late February 2026 as a likely announcement date. A Pokémon Presents debut sets Nintendo up to ship the Switch 2 game by the holiday season. Without a 3D Mario or Zelda title, Gen 10 would become critical to bolstering console sales.
Other potential Pokémon announcements
The pory_Leeks list also anticipates that Sleep, Unite, Champions, and Pokopia will be featured in the February 27th event. However, with an estimated 25-minute run-time, it will be challenging to give all the projects equal attention.
Nintendo may have intentionally opted to reveal Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen before Pokémon Day. The digital-exclusive Switch titles let players revisit the Game Boy Advance era. This news could free up a few extra minutes for the first Wind and Waves trailer.
