Apple AirPods Max 2 Officially Announced With H2 Chip and Enhanced ANC

Apple has officially unveiled the second-generation AirPods Max 2, bringing major upgrades to its premium over-ear headphones with improved Active Noise Cancellation, enhanced sound quality and a range of intelligent features powered by the new H2 chip.

The new AirPods Max 2 retains the iconic over-ear design while introducing several new capabilities including Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation and Live Translation, making it Apple’s most advanced over-ear headphones yet.

H2 Chip Delivers More Powerful Noise Cancellation

At the core of AirPods Max 2 is Apple’s H2 chip, which enables up to 1.5 times more effective Active Noise Cancellation compared to the previous generation. This allows the headphones to reduce more ambient noise from environments such as airplanes, trains or busy streets for a more immersive listening experience.

Transparency mode has also been improved with new digital signal processing algorithms that allow external sounds to come through more naturally when users need to stay aware of their surroundings.

Improved Audio Quality and Lossless Audio Support

AirPods Max 2 features a new high dynamic range amplifier designed to deliver cleaner and more detailed sound. Apple says the headphones provide improved bass response, clearer mids and more natural highs while maintaining the signature sound profile of the AirPods Max lineup.

For the highest fidelity audio experience, AirPods Max 2 supports 24-bit, 48kHz lossless audio when connected via the included USB-C cable. This also enables ultra-low latency audio, making the headphones suitable for professional workflows such as music production and video editing.

When paired with compatible Apple devices, AirPods Max 2 also supports Personalized Spatial Audio with head tracking for a more immersive listening experience across music, movies and games.

New Intelligent Features Powered by Apple Intelligence

With the H2 chip, several new smart features are introduced to the AirPods Max lineup.

Adaptive Audio automatically adjusts between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency depending on the surrounding environment. Conversation Awareness reduces playback volume and emphasises voices when users begin speaking with someone nearby.

Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence, allows users to communicate across languages during face-to-face conversations.

Voice Isolation improves call clarity by prioritising the user’s voice while filtering out background noise. The headphones also support camera remote functionality, allowing users to take photos or start video recording on their iPhone or iPad by pressing the Digital Crown.

AirPods Max 2 also introduces studio-quality audio recording for creators, enabling podcasters, musicians and interviewers to capture clearer voice recordings with natural vocal tones.

Additional features include Loud Sound Reduction to minimise exposure to loud environmental noise and Personalized Volume that automatically adjusts audio levels based on user listening habits.

    Colours and Availability

AirPods Max 2 will be available in Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Purple and Blue.

The headphones will be available to order starting March 25, with general availability beginning early next month in more than 30 countries and regions.

    Pricing

AirPods Max 2 is priced at RM2299 in Malaysia.

Customers purchasing the headphones may also receive three months of Apple Music free if they are new subscribers. AppleCare+ protection plans are also available for additional coverage including accidental damage protection and battery replacement service.

With improved noise cancellation, enhanced audio fidelity and the addition of intelligent features powered by the H2 chip, AirPods Max 2 aims to deliver an even more immersive and intelligent listening experience for Apple users.
