Embark “mutually parts ways” with co-founder Rob Runesson following sexual misconduct allegations

Developer says “investigation did not substantiate the allegations” but it “found the situation unsustainable”

Arc Raiders and The Finals dev Embark Studios has “mutually agreed to part ways” with co-founder and CCO Rob Runesson after allegations of sexual misconduct.

In a statement via IGN, the Stockholm-based studio said it had “recently been made aware of allegations against an Embark employee.”

“We take these matters seriously, and as part of our process for addressing any types of allegations, we immediately hired a law firm to conduct an external investigation.”

It continued: “The investigation did not substantiate the allegations, but we found the situation unsustainable and mutually agreed to part ways with Rob.”

IGN reports that the sexual misconduct allegations involve a female streamer of The Finals. An anonymous source said they spoke to the streamer, who reported “becoming increasingly uncomfortable with Runesson’s requests for sexual conversations and favours.”

The source said the streamer was “concerned about the potential conflict of interest” and that they “could not push back due to becoming financially dependent on Runesson’s promotion of their streams.”

The streamer allegedly reported the allegations to an Embark community manager but did not know an investigation was underway.

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted Embark Studios for further clarification.

Embark was founded in 2018 by Patrick Söderlund and other former staff from Battlefield developer DICE, including Runesson.
