Why rigid technologies fail to meet the needs of modern health systems

Health IT leaders must prioritize flexibility and interoperability in technology investments so they improve the patient experience – the demand for digital experiences continues to grow, and rigid, siloed systems fail to meet the needs of modern healthcare, said Jeff Fallon, CEO of Vibe Health by eVideon, a vendor of smart room technology and digital workflow systems. The company is in Booth C3714 at HIMSS25.

“Invest in open, scalable infrastructure to ensure long-term adaptability, reduce technical debt and position organizations to integrate emerging technologies without costly overhauls,” he advised HIMSS25 attendees.

    Smart hospital initiatives

“Another priority is aligning technology with clinical and operational goals,” he continued. “Smart hospital initiatives must reduce clinician burden, enhance communication and improve the patient experience. Systems that automate routine tasks, enable real-time data sharing and integrate with existing workflows drive measurable impact. IT leaders must work closely with clinical teams to ensure technology supports – not complicates – care delivery.”

HIMSS25 offers an opportunity to evaluate systems that enhance both efficiency and experience – the smartest investments evolve with healthcare’s needs, break down silos, and empower clinicians and patients alike, he added.

AI and cybersecurity are driving key discussions at HIMSS25, Fallon said of what he views as the big technologies at the show.

“The AI in Healthcare Forum covers real-world applications that cut administrative burden, optimize workflows and improve clinical decision making,” he observed. “Health systems turn to AI for predictive analytics, automation and precision medicine to maximize efficiency with fewer resources.

    Building system resilience

“And cybersecurity remains a top priority, with the Cybersecurity Forum and Command Center addressing the latest threats and strategies,” he continued. “Health systems face rising cyberattacks, stricter regulations and expanding digital footprints. A proactive approach secures patient data, blocks ransomware attacks and builds system resilience.”

On the exhibit hall floor, Fallon and his team have a primary message they are communicating to the hospital and health system attendees.

“Our main message is that smart room technology plays a transformative role in enhancing the patient and clinician experience while improving operational efficiency,” he said. “Hospitals and health systems, like Northwell Health, Nebraska Medicine and Valley Health System, are successfully integrating our systems to streamline workflows and empower patients and care teams.

“These real-world examples highlight how technology can be used to optimize clinical processes, improve communication, and create a more personalized care environment that benefits everyone – patients, families, clinicians and hospital staff,” he concluded.
