The Eero Max 7, Amazon’s best mesh router, has received its biggest discount yet. This tri-band Wi-Fi 7 router is capable of delivering blazing fast wireless speeds of 4.3Gbps and wired speeds up to 9.4Gbps.
Amazon has deeply discounted several of its own products in the run-up to the Prime Day event. It’s an especially good time to be in the market for the cutting-edge mesh system, with Amazon’s Eero Pro 6E still on sale and the top-of-the-line Eero Max 7 now receiving its biggest discount yet.
The Eero Max 7 mesh system is currently down to just $420, a flat $180 or 30% discount off its usual price of $600. That’s a new all-time low price for the Eero Max 7, beating its previous lowest price of $480. That’s for a single router, which covers up to 2,500 square feet. If you’re planning to cover even larger spaces, the 2-pack and 3-pack configurations are also on sale, and can be had for $800 and $1,190, respectively.
The Eero Max 7 is the most powerful mesh router in the Eero family, and it’s widely considered one of the best Wi-Fi 7 routers out there. In terms of throughput, the Eero Max 7 claims to offer up to 9.4Gbps wired and 4.3Gbps wireless speeds, making it an excellent choice for folks with multi-gigabit internet. However, to take full advantage of everything that Wi-Fi 7 promises, you must have Wi-Fi 7-enabled devices that support the 6GHz band and 320MHz channel width. A single router can cover up to 2,500 square feet of space, which can be extended to cover up to 10,000 square feet with the 4-pack.
The Eero Max 7 packs a quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM and 4GB of onboard storage and can support up to 250 connected devices. Each node features 10 Wi-Fi antennas, one smart home antenna, four auto-sensing ethernet ports (two 10Gbps ports and two 2.5Gbps ports), and a USB-C power port. It also doubles as a Thread border router and Zigbee hub for your smart home devices and supports the Matter protocol.
The cheaper Eero Pro 6E might be the better value
There’s also the optional Eero Plus subscription that unlocks additional perks. For $10 a month (or $100 a year), you get better security, parental controls, internet backup, and access to extras like a VPN by Guardian, 1Password access, and ad blocking. All of those perks come with the much cheaper Eero Pro 6E, too. A three-pack of that will run you less than a single Max 7, and unless you’ve got a house full of Wi-Fi 7-enabled gadgets, you probably won’t notice a huge difference in speed or range. If most of your gear is on Wi-Fi 6, the Pro 6E—or even the older Pro 6 with two 5GHz bands—might serve you better, and for a lot less.
