Apple Launches New 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Chip

Apple has officially unveiled the all-new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M5 chip, delivering what the company calls the “next big leap in AI performance” for the Mac. With up to 3.5x more AI performance, 1.6x faster graphics, a faster CPU, and up to 24 hours of battery life, the latest MacBook Pro raises the bar for both performance and efficiency. It also introduces macOS Tahoe, Apple’s most advanced desktop operating system to date, enhancing productivity and personalization across Apple’s ecosystem.

Apple says the M5 chip brings “a huge boost in graphics performance and AI capabilities,” allowing the MacBook Pro to accelerate demanding workflows for professionals, students, and creators alike. The new model retains its Liquid Retina XDR display, six-speaker sound system, 12MP Center Stage camera, and macOS integration, while introducing faster storage and expanded Apple Intelligence features — all starting at RM6,999 in Malaysia.

The M5 Advantage: The Future of AI on Mac

At the heart of the new 14-inch MacBook Pro is Apple’s next-generation M5 chip, built on a 3-nanometer architecture. It features a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in every core, delivering up to 3.5x faster AI performance than the M4 and 6x faster than the M1. Combined with a faster 16-core Neural Engine and more than 150GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, the M5 chip empowers the MacBook Pro to run advanced AI-driven workflows — including text-to-image generation, on-device large language models (LLMs), deep learning, and AI-powered video enhancement — all faster and more efficiently than ever before.

From students using AI note transcription to content creators leveraging apps like Draw Things for image generation or LM Studio for local model processing, the M5’s AI capabilities open a new era of real-time, on-device intelligence. With 2x faster SSD performance, users can load local LLMs, import RAW photos, or export 8K videos at unprecedented speeds, with configurations available up to 4TB.

    Extreme Performance, Longer Endurance

The new M5 chip doesn’t just accelerate AI workloads — it delivers broad system-wide performance gains. With a 10-core CPU featuring six efficiency and four performance cores, users can expect up to 20% faster multithreaded performance than M4, allowing smoother multitasking and lightning-fast responsiveness in creative and professional applications. Graphics-intensive tasks also get a major upgrade with 1.6x faster performance in pro apps and higher frame rates in gaming.

According to Apple, the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 is up to 7.7x faster in AI video enhancement using Topaz Video compared to the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1, and up to 1.8x faster than the M4 model. In Blender, 3D rendering speeds improve up to 6.8x over M1 and 1.7x over M4, while gaming frame rates jump up to 3.2x higher than on M1 systems.

Despite this performance, battery life is astonishing — up to 24 hours, making it Apple’s longest-lasting pro laptop yet. For professionals upgrading from Intel-based Macs, that’s up to 14 extra hours of endurance. The MacBook Pro also supports fast charging, allowing users to charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes with a 96W USB-C power adapter.

    Designed for Professionals and Creators

The 14-inch MacBook Pro continues to feature Apple’s acclaimed Liquid Retina XDR display with 1600 nits peak HDR brightness, a nano-texture glass option, and support for multiple external high-resolution displays. It’s accompanied by a 12MP Center Stage camera, studio-grade microphones, and a six-speaker Spatial Audio system, ensuring crystal-clear communication and immersive multimedia playback.

With macOS Tahoe, Apple introduces a fresh design with a Liquid Glass interface, customizable icons, transparent menu bar, and enhanced Spotlight capabilities for faster search and task execution. The update also enhances Continuity — allowing users to make and receive calls directly on Mac — and introduces Live Activities from iPhone for real-time updates like flight tracking or delivery notifications.

    Apple Intelligence: Smarter, More Private

The new MacBook Pro integrates Apple Intelligence — Apple’s next-generation on-device AI framework — into Messages, FaceTime, and the Phone app, enabling real-time Live Translation for text and audio across languages. The Shortcuts app now supports AI-driven automation, and developers can build custom intelligence directly into their apps through Apple’s Foundation Models framework. All Apple Intelligence processing happens on-device or via Private Cloud Compute to ensure user data remains private and secure.

    Built with Sustainability in Mind

Aligned with Apple’s 2030 carbon-neutral goal, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro is built using 45% recycled content, including 100% recycled aluminum, rare earth elements, and cobalt in the battery. Manufacturing is powered by 55% renewable electricity, and packaging is fully fiber-based and recyclable. The device also meets Apple’s standards for energy efficiency and long-term durability, with ongoing software support to extend product lifespan.

    Pricing and Availability

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 starts at RM6,999 (or RM6,569 with education savings) and will be available in space black and silver finishes. Customers can order it soon via apple.com/my/store, the Apple Store app, or authorized Apple retailers. Configure-to-order options and accessories, including up to 4TB of SSD storage and AppleCare+, are also available.
