Mini PCs have become indispensable in the business environment. With the Asus ExpertCenter PN54 we recently tested a modern and powerful mini PC that impresses with its sophisticated design without losing sight of performance. Inside is an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350, which provides lots of performance thanks to the Zen 5 architecture. In addition to the CPU and GPU, the chip also has an NPU for AI-accelerated workflows. Fast DDR5 RAM and PCIe SSDs are also onboard and make the mini PC suitable for everyday usage and lead to excellent results in ours benchmarks.
The connectivity is also positive. The Asus ExpertCenter PN54 can control a total of four displays simultaneously and modern interfaces such as USB4 offer further advantages for connecting the device to accessories. This means that external graphics cards can also be connected, which can noticeably increase the 3D performance, as the integrated AMD Radeon 860M only delivers a solid performance that is sufficient for simple everyday office use. You don’t even have to do without a small speaker. The case of the Asus ExpertCenter PN54 is compact, solidly built and easy to expand thanks to the easy-to-open maintenance flap. The device can be opened without tools and even the installation of SSDs and RAM is carried out without the use of tools – a great time advantage when setting up or carrying out maintenance work on the device itself. The UEFI also offers numerous options to customize the device to your needs.
There are limitations with the DPC latencies, which can be problematic for audio applications. The integrated Radeon 860M is also only suitable for performance-hungry 3D tasks to a limited extent but can be upgraded via eGPU.
Overall, the Asus ExpertCenter PN54 presents itself as a modern and versatile mini PC, which is particularly impressive in everyday office use and scores with up-to-date interfaces and solid performance, making it a powerful basis for numerous tasks.
