Good news for Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 users, as the long-awaited Feature Update (version 4.467) that was announced last month has finally started rolling out. This is a major update that focuses on adding new features that improve the audio quality and make Gemini Live work better.

For starters, the update introduces Adaptive Audio, which is great for those who want to listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks while they are out walking but still stay aware of what’s happening around them. It automatically adjusts the volume and reduces unwanted background noise.

Next, we have Loud Noise Protection. As the name suggests, it’s designed to automatically reduce the volume if there is a sudden loud noise. However, Google claims that it won’t protect against very quick and sharp sounds, such as gunshots, explosions, or fireworks. Plus, when you enable Adaptive Audio, Loud Noise Protection turns on automatically. 

The update also finally brings head gestures to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, thanks to which you can answer a call or reply to a text with a simple nod. And if you want to decline a call, just shake your head. 

Lastly, Gemini Live has received a big improvement, as it can now hear your voice more clearly even in noisy environments. Google claims it will prioritize your voice and reduce the background noise automatically. 

In any case, the update is gradually rolling out and should get installed for your device automatically. However, to check for it manually, you can open the Pixel Buds app, go to More Settings, and then tap Firmware update. If it’s not available right away, check again after a day or two.
