Christmas Eve Epic Games Store mystery free game guesses point to acclaimed hits – NotebookCheck.net News

The eighth mystery free game will go live on Christmas Eve, and while Epic Games Store didn’t offer any concrete hints, there’s a chance that it will be a popular indie title. Looking back at the giveaway history, it could be a repeated freebie as well.

Epic Games Store is currently giving away a popular RPG game, which happens to match what the hint was pointing at. On Christmas Eve, the eighth free game will go live, but this time, there are no obvious clues about what it could be.

Well, that didn’t stop fans from guessing what the December 24 free game will be on Epic Games Store. Before getting into those guesses, here are the games that the storefront gave away as the eighth freebie in the last few holiday season events:

    • 2024 – Dredge
    • 2023 – Ghostwire: Tokyo
    • 2022 – Metro: Last Light Redux (curr. $1.99 on Humble Store)
    • 2021 – Pathfinder: Kingmaker
    • 2020 – Inside

Among the above-listed past free games, three are repeated freebies. That is, they were given away before by Epic Games Store, which suggests that the upcoming giveaway might be a repeat. Another thing that’s worth noting from the list above is that three of them are considered to be great indie titles.

So, there’s a chance that the upcoming giveaway will turn out to be a well-rated indie game. If this theory happens to be true, there are some great candidates that guesses are pointing to. One of them is Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, but it’s on sale, which somewhat lowers the chances of it becoming a free game on December 24, 2025.

Another possible game that Epic Games Store could give away is Subnautica: Below Zero. This title isn’t on sale on the storefront, and it somewhat fits the pattern. Among the other solid guesses are Cult of the Lamb, Terraria, Hollow Knight, Katana Zero, Skul: The Hero Slayer, and Spyro.

For those wondering, the eighth free game will be revealed on December 24, 2025, at UTC 16:00. Till then, the current mystery giveaway will be available to claim.
