Colorful souls-like adventure set underwater now 40% off on Steam for a limited time – NotebookCheck.net News

Another Crab’s Treasure is an anomaly in the world of souls-likes. It’s set in a vibrant and colorful underwater world where you play as Kril the hermit crab, who must embark on an epic adventure to buy back his shell. The game is currently 40% off on Steam, with the price now below $20 for a limited time.

Another Crab’s Treasure by Aggro Crab is a fun, colorful take on the souls-like genre. Set in a vibrant underwater world, you play as Kril, a hermit crab that embarks on an epic adventure to gather enough cash to get his shell back.

The story is a breath of fresh air in a genre overflowing with grim and bleak narratives, and features tons of great characters with charm and lots of creativity. Kril’s quest for his shell is not narrative set-dressing either and plays into the game’s central shell-swapping mechanic that lets you collect up to 69 hilarious shell designs that offer unique advantages and disadvantages.

For example, using a Tennis ball lets you roll, a discarded can gives you access to a ranged attack, while a Matryoshka doll buffs up your defensive stats. There are tons of imaginative designs that make collecting them all worth it, and each one changes up your playstyle to keep things fresh.

Besides your usual souls-like combat, Kril also has access to a variety of powerful attacks that he can learn from the various critters in the sea. He can learn a powerful stagger blow from a Mantis shrimp or he can ensnare his foes with techniques learnt from a worm and much more.

Despite the underwater setting, there is a great deal of variety in the environments from deep-sea trenches, sand castles, coral reefs and large forests of kelp, each setting introduces something new. Another Crab’s Treasure also provides various assist options and difficulty settings to cater to newcomers and genre veterans alike.

95% of Another Crab’s Treasure’s 8K+ reviews lean towards positive for an overall “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam. Players generally seem to like the more light-hearted tone and the fun shell-swapping mechanic which effectively functions as various builds to tinker with. The main combat loop sees high praise and the level design and exploration also gets high marks.

The negative reviews mention some “jank” with bugs and problems with the wonky camera on occasion. Some hitboxes also seem inconsistent with attacks seemingly connecting when they shouldn’t.

According to howlongtobeat.com, Another Crab’s Treasure will take you roughly 14 hours for the main story and up to 19 hours if you decide to tackle side-missions. An average time of 22 hours is required for completionists.

Another Crab’s Treasure is currently 40% off on Steam, down to its lowest recorded price of just $17.99 (€17.99 or £16.19) as per SteamDB. The special sale ends on November 4, 2025.
