Critically acclaimed 240 Hz Alienware gaming monitor with 34-inch QD-OLED display gets massive Black Friday discount – NotebookCheck.net News

The 34.2-inh Alienware AW3425DW curved gaming monitor sports a 1440p 240 Hz panel, and is now on sale witha $150 discount on Amazon. (Image source: Dell, edited)

The Alienware AW3425DW gaming monitor sports a 34-inch curved QD-OLED panel with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a resolution of 3440 x 1440. Thanks to Amazon’s ongoing Black Friday sale, the capable and well-reviewed gaming monitor is now available for an all-time low price.

Black Friday is closer than ever, and a whole bunch of retailers are already slapping massive discounts on popular consumer gadgets. Gaming monitors are certainly no exception, with Amazon discounting the excellent 34-inch Alienware AW3425DW OLED gaming monitor to its all-time low price of just $650.

Premium gaming performance for a premium price

RTINGS’ comprehensive review of the 34-inch curved gaming monitor paints an overwhelmingly positive picture in terms of gaming peroformance, although productivity usage is unsurprisingly more of a mixed bag.

The 2nd gen QD-OLED panel refreshes at 240 Hz, which makes it excellent for fast-paced gaming. All the key perks of being an OLED are obviously present, such as near-instantaneous response times, near-infinite contrast ratios, and a lack of blooming unlike mini LEDs.

However, the Alienware AW3425DW gaming monitor does suffer from sub-par brightness, which makes it a no-go for professional work. The panel maxes out at just 240 nits for SDR content, and sports a peak HDR brightness of 1000 nits in a 2% window and just 500 nits in a 10% window. However, for gaming, this should not be much of an issue.

Color coverage and accuracy is excellent, which is to be expected from a premium QD-OLED. Text clarity, however, is rather poor with visible fringing, which is yet another reason why the gaming monitor might not be a great choice for productivity use. Once again, gaming performance is not hindered by this notable downside.

Clearly, the Alienware AW3425DW curved OLED gaming monitor is a solid choice for folks who are on the lookout for a good monitor deal purely for gaming. I/O includes dual HDMI 2.1, single DisplayPort 1.4, USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 with 15W PD, as well as a USB-B port. Interested folks are advised to act quickly considering the limited-time nature of the deal, and are also advised to refer to RTINGS’ detailed review before pulling the trigger.
