Decathlon subsidiary unveils new e-MTB motor with 1,000 W power – NotebookCheck.net News
E2Drives, a Decathlon subsidiary, has revealed the new Owuru Ride motor. This is a more powerful option from the brand, offering up to 1,000 W peak power with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It will be fitted to electric mountain bikes and cargo bikes from Decathlon and other brands.
Decathlon subsidiary E2Drives has developed a new e-bike motor: the Owuru Ride. This company released the original Owuru Gen1 Propulsive Module in 2023. This technology was only available on Decathlon bikes like the Btwin LD 920 E.
At Eurobike 2025, an event running in Frankfurt from June 25th to 29th, it has been reported that E2Drives is demonstrating the new Owuru Ride motor. A prototype has been designed and manufactured with Cero Design, shown on the upcoming Unno Mith electric bike. This motor is designed for e-MTBs and electric cargo bikes. It is said to offer up to 1,000 W peak power and up to 150 Nm torque, with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a 500% gear ratio. This is enhanced performance compared to the older model, which offers 600 W power and 120 Nm torque.
This model is also almost a kilo lighter than its predecessor, weighing 3.9 kg (~8.6 lbs). Plus, it is said to be more compact, though exact measurements have not been revealed. This technology will not be exclusive to Decathlon, with the company looking to sell it’s technology to other e-bike manufacturers. The first e-bikes featuring the Owuru Ride motor are expected to be released at the end of 2026, with reports suggesting it will initially be seen on a Decathlon Rockrider e-MTB. E-bikes from other brands are expected to follow in 2027.
