Epic Games has launched its Epic Web Shops service for PC and mobile.

Available through the firm’s self-publishing tools, the service will enable developers to sell in-game content using its “global distribution network and scaled ecommerce platform” via a direct-to-consumer storefront.

Developers using the service will keep 100% of their first $1 million in net revenue per title. Once that threshold is met, it will revert to the standard 88/12 share.

Players that use Web Shops will earn Epic Rewards on each purchase, and can apply these rewards to future transactions.

Once a Web Shop is live, it will be listed on a developer’s product page via the new ‘Web Shop’ tab on PC. It will also enable developers to offer out-of-app purchases.

Epic has clarified that “shops will be available on mobile app product pages natively within the Epic Game Store mobile app later in the year.”

Developers or publishers with a registered Epic Games Developer account, alongside eligible products, can create a Web Shop.

Epic states that “any content considered a consumable sale” is eligible to be sold via this service, including “virtual currency and other use items”. Web3 games are not included.

Codename Entertainment is the first developer to launch a live Web Shop for its title Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms.

Epic’s webshop feature was announced earlier this year, following its legal win against Apple.
