Faced with current difficulties, Tesla has decided to launch in this country, which could increase its sales – NotebookCheck.net News
To counter its recent failures, Tesla has decided to enter the Indian market. And while this represents a great opportunity, thanks to its 1.4 billion inhabitants, many concerns may arise.
For several months now, Tesla’s sales have been steadily declining, and Elon Musk‘s company has been looking for new markets around the world. India, with its population of over one billion, represents a good opportunity, provided that its residents are interested in these cars.
This information was reported by Bloomberg News, which stated that the electric and autonomous car manufacturer could open its first showroom in Mumbai and begin deliveries as early as August. But that’s not all, as the announcement was also made on social media, notably on X. Tesla created an Indian account and posted an image showing the Mumbai skyline with the caption: “Coming soon.”
However, this market is quite a challenge for the American company. It must be said that prices are not the same, due to lower salaries than in the US and lower levels of wealth. And that’s not all, because it will have to export vehicles already built to this country, with a 70% import tax, according to Reuters. In other words, this tax could cause Tesla prices to skyrocket, making them unaffordable for Indians.
Furthermore, it should be noted that Tesla had already begun negotiations with Indian authorities to build a local factory there. However, Elon Musk‘s company did not follow through with these discussions. This is despite the fact that establishing a factory in this territory would have avoided many issues, such as import taxes, which will now come into effect.
As a result, many questions remain on this subject. It is possible that Tesla wants to test the Indian market before establishing a long-term presence there. Not to mention that this country is currently experiencing rapid growth in this area and that there is a growing awareness of environmental issues. It will therefore be necessary to closely monitor the results of this project to see whether it has been a success, which would enable the company to thrive, or whether it is another failure that could seal its fate.
