Garmin issues fresh improvement for Pro smartwatches as new stable update looms – NotebookCheck.net News
ⓘ Garmin
Garmin has started offering a new update to some of its recent Pro smartwatches. Available as an OTA download, the update is said to resolve a major GPS issue that has affected recent builds.
Garmin is ending the week with another update for the Enduro 3, Fenix E, Fenix 8 and Tactix 8 (curr. $1,299 on Amazon). To recap, the company issued Beta Version 21.20 a few days ago. Packing two bug fixes, Beta Version 21.20 was the seventh v21.xx build that Garmin had offered to beta testers since Beta Version 21.12 debuted at the end of December.
In other words, Garmin is over six weeks into v21.xx public beta development. Nonetheless, the company does not seem close to transitioning v21.xx builds to its stable software branch. Instead, the disablement of Aviation, Dive and ECG features on Beta Version 21.22 indicates that Garmin has more v21.xx beta builds to come.
The increasingly low volume of changes between beta updates suggests Garmin is close to finalising v21.xx beta development, though. This time around, Garmin only claims to have addressed an issue that resulted in Fenix 8 Pro smartwatches being unable to acquire GPS in CIQ apps. Reportedly, around 50% of eligible smartwatches have received a notification to download Beta Version 21.22. Thus, we would expect Garmin to finish its automatic update process within the next few days.
