Honor Magic 8 edges past Xiaomi 17 Pro in early Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 benchmarks – NotebookCheck.net News

Ahead of the release, the AnTuTu benchmark result from the Honor Magic 8 has surfaced. As shown in the screenshot reshared by the product manager, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship has managed to get a higher overall score than the Xiaomi 17 Pro.

The Xiaomi 17 series phones are the first flagships that feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but they will soon face some heat from competitors. Honor, for example, is preparing to launch the Magic 8 series, which will also bring smartphones with the next-gen flagship SoC from Qualcomm.

As for how well Honor’s Magic 8 series phones will compete in terms of performance, Li Kun, the company’s product manager, has shared an early AnTuTu benchmark run from the non-Pro flagship. This screenshot was sourced from another Weibo user, and per the screenshot, the Honor Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship can achieve an overall score of 4,166,339 points.

The screenshot further shows that the Honor Magic 8 has managed to get a score of 1,213,845 in CPU, 570,553 in memory, 913,590 in UX, and 1,468,351 in GPU. Li Kun has compared this benchmark result with the one coming from the Xiaomi 17 Pro, which managed an overall of 3,749,435 points, with a score of 1,053,385 in CPU, 1,332,311 in GPU, 529,807 in memory, and 833,932 in UX.

So, in comparison, the Honor Magic 8 gets the upper hand, but the comparison photos show that the Xiaomi 17 Pro has an edge in terms of the battery. To be specific, the former lost 7% of its battery during the benchmark run, while Xiaomi’s flagship phone lost 2% of its battery, but the SoC’s temperature was comparatively higher.

But then again, these are early AnTuTu benchmark runs from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagships, and it’s also worth noting that these benchmarks come from AnTuTu V11, which has only been recently released. So, there’s a chance that the score from Xiaomi 17 Pro (available to import on TradingShenzhen) will improve in the near future.

Getting back to the Honor Magic 8, the phone and its Pro version are set to launch in October 2025. The company has already revealed the design of its upcoming flagships, and it has also shared some sample photos captured by the Pro’s 200 MP telephoto sensor.
