In recent years, Android OEMs have been reluctant to wade into the world of compact flagship tablets. As a result, Apple was given free rein with the iPad mini, which it only infrequently updated. This year though, Lenovo, Xiaomi, RedMagic and now Huawei have released small but powerful tablets like the Legion Y700 4th Gen, Redmi K Pad, Astra (curr. $799 on Amazon) and the MatePad mini.

Now, a typically reliable leaker suggests that Honor is preparing an alternative too. Writing on Weibo, Digital Chat Station alleges that Honor is developing a tablet called the MagicPad mini, adding that the tablet will be positioned against Huawei’s recent MatePad mini. While the MatePad mini’s size is unknown for now, Digital Chat Station believes that the tablet iwll support cellular connectivity via an eSIM and or a physical SIM card.

Apparently, Honor does not plan to introduce the MagicPad mini this year, though. Instead, Digital Chat Station alleges that Honor is targeting a 1H 2026 release window, presumably in China first, as is often the case with the company’s new products.

In the meantime, Honor has publicly hinted that it will be releasing the MagicPad 3 Pro as a large tablet solution before the end of the year. Although nothing else is known about the MagicPad 3 Pro yet, we suspect it will surpass the MagicPad 3 in terms of hardware. Thus, the MagicPad 3 Pro will likely line up with powerful hardware than the 165 Hz IPS, 12,450 mAh battery and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-wielding MagicPad 3.
