    • Boxing Day Test: December 26-30, daily start times: 11:30pm GMT (day before) / 10:30am AEDT / 6:30pm ET (day before)

The Boxing Day Test represents one of the moments of any year’s sporting calendar, but when it’s in the Ashes the intensity only ratchets up. The Australia vs England 4th Test may not have the urn riding on it, but the hosts are desperate to bag a third series whitewash against the Old Enemy this century Down Under.

And England? Well, there will be plenty of soul searching in the squad for the rest of the tour, with a lack of preparation and muddled thinking on the pitching contributing to a dispiriting mood. Ben Stokes, though, won’t allow his side wallow in Christmas ennui and will be determined to salvage some pride from the carcass of this tour before the root-and-branch investigation into what exactly went wrong. Jacob Bethell is in for Ollie Pope at No.3, while Gus Atkinson gets a recall to the bowling unit as Jofra Archer is ruled out for the rest of the tour . And if the richly talented Harry Brook could see his way to not giving his wicket away, and holding a couple of catches, all the better.

England have won the toss and will bowl on the opening morning at the MCG. England will go with the XI that they announced a couple days ago, with Bethell replacing Pope and Atkinson in for the injured Archer. Australia go with Michael Neser, Jhye Richardson and the returning Smith as skipper, with Cameron Green moving down to No.7.

Read on as we explain how to watch the Boxing Day 4th Ashes Test 2025/26 between Australia and England from anywhere in the world, including free options.
