Leaked image shows the Lenovo Legion Go 2 might have a SteamOS version – NotebookCheck.net News

Lenovo might have changed its mind about releasing a SteamOS version of the soon-to-be-announced Legion Go 2. The handheld is expected to run Windows out of the box, but an official image has shown it running SteamOS. Hence, Lenovo might release the handheld in two OS versions, as it did with the Legion Go S.

When a prototype of the Lenovo Legion Go 2 was first revealed at CES 2025, it was stated that it runs Windows. However, since the Legion Go S (read our review of the Windows version) was announced in Windows and SteamOS variants, it was not far-fetched to presume the Legion Go 2 would get a similar treatment when it finally launched. Sadly, Lenovo didn’t hesitate to dash people’s hopes when it disclosed that it had no specific plans to launch the Legion Go 2 with SteamOS.

Many months have passed since then, and both variants of the Legion Go S (16GB+ 512GB version available on Amazon for $649.99) are already on store shelves. With comparisons showing the SteamOS version offering better performance than the Windows equivalent, it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that Lenovo has changed its mind. Now we have proof that it has, or at least that’s what it appears to be.

Evidence of the Legion Go 2 with SteamOS version comes from one of the official images leaked by Evan Blass (@evleaks on X). As you can see in the image above, the Legion Go 2 is shown running SteamOS. Considering this is an official image, it is safe to presume this version of the Legion Go 2 boots SteamOS right out of the box. Although, it is worth noting that there isn’t a Steam button as is available on the Legion Go S with SteamOS (read our review).

Nevertheless, it is exciting to see that Lenovo has changed its mind, even though it has not yet officially announced it. However, it is not known if the SteamOS version will be available alongside the Windows version or if it will be released at a later date. And if Lenovo chooses not to launch a SteamOS version of the Legion Go 2, users should be able to install SteamOS on it themselves just as they can do on the original Legion Go.
