MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500 to Power Next-Gen Flagship and Premium Smartphones

MediaTek has officially announced two new additions to its Dimensity chipset lineup, the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, aimed at driving the next wave of flagship and premium smartphones. Both new platforms are designed with a strong focus on performance, power efficiency, artificial intelligence, imaging, gaming and advanced wireless connectivity, reinforcing MediaTek’s push to bring cutting-edge mobile experiences to a wider audience.

According to MediaTek, the introduction of these new chipsets reflects the company’s continued investment in advanced process technologies and system-level innovation. As one of the world’s leading smartphone chipset suppliers, MediaTek is positioning the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500 to enable manufacturers to deliver more powerful, intelligent and efficient devices across different premium tiers.

The Dimensity 9500s sits at the top of the new lineup and is built on a flagship-class 3nm manufacturing process. It adopts an All Big Core CPU architecture designed to maximise performance while improving energy efficiency. The octa-core CPU configuration includes one Cortex-X925 ultra core clocked at up to 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 premium cores and four Cortex-A720 performance cores, providing strong single-core responsiveness alongside sustained multi-core performance for demanding workloads.

For graphics, the Dimensity 9500s integrates the Immortalis-G925 GPU, targeting full-frame, immersive gaming experiences for high-end mobile titles. The GPU supports advanced ray tracing, bringing more realistic lighting and reflections to compatible games. MediaTek’s Adaptive Game Technology 3.0 and Frame Rate Control 3.0 further enhance efficiency by dynamically balancing performance and power consumption, helping to extend battery life during long gaming sessions.

AI capabilities are a major highlight of the Dimensity 9500s. Its flagship-grade NPU is optimised for generative reasoning and multi-modal AI models, enabling more powerful on-device AI experiences. These include real-time post-processing of live photos, advanced AI photo editing such as outpainting and object removal, as well as AI-powered content summarisation for calls, meetings and files. These capabilities allow smartphone brands to build devices that better meet growing user demand for intelligent, privacy-focused on-device AI features.

On the imaging front, the Dimensity 9500s features an advanced MediaTek Imagiq image processor that supports real-time 30fps motion tracking and 8K full-focus Dolby Vision HDR video recording. This enables creators to capture high-quality, vivid video with improved clarity and dynamic range. The chipset also delivers fast snapshot performance and advanced noise reduction, ensuring consistently sharp results across a wide range of shooting conditions.

Connectivity is another strong area for the Dimensity 9500s. It integrates a 5G Release-17 modem supporting 4CC carrier aggregation with downlink speeds of up to 7Gbps, alongside MediaTek 5G UltraSave 4.0 for improved power efficiency. Additional features include AI Network Suite 2.0 for enhanced performance in weak signal environments, Xtra Range 3.0 for extended indoor Wi-Fi coverage, and long-distance Bluetooth direct connections of up to five kilometres, opening up new use cases for device-to-device communication.

Positioned just below the flagship tier, the Dimensity 8500 is designed to deliver powerful performance with a strong focus on efficiency and gaming responsiveness. Built on an energy-efficient 4nm process, it also uses an All Big Core CPU architecture, featuring eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 3.4GHz. This configuration delivers improved performance and efficiency for everyday apps, multitasking and sustained gaming.

The Dimensity 8500 supports LPDDR5X memory with speeds of up to 9600Mbps, enabling faster data transfer and smoother system performance. MediaTek’s accurate scheduling technology helps optimise resource allocation, ensuring a balance between responsiveness and battery life across different usage scenarios.

Graphics performance on the Dimensity 8500 is handled by the Mali-G720 GPU, which delivers up to 25% higher peak performance compared to the previous generation while reducing power consumption by 20%. With an upgraded gaming engine, the chipset supports full-frame stabilisation, faster loading times and improved efficiency. Ray tracing support is also brought to mainstream mobile games, enhancing visual realism and immersion at this segment.

AI features remain a key focus for the Dimensity 8500 as well. It integrates MediaTek’s eighth-generation NPU, supporting mainstream large language models and image generation models. Additional AI features include an ultra-clear telephoto algorithm and the Dimensity AI semantic engine, which intelligently optimises image content frames for better visual quality.

With the launch of the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500, MediaTek continues to strengthen its Dimensity portfolio across both flagship and premium segments. By combining advanced process technologies, powerful AI engines, improved imaging pipelines and next-generation connectivity, these new chipsets are set to power a new generation of smartphones that deliver high-end experiences with improved efficiency and broader accessibility.
