Metroid Prime 4: Beyond leaks raise concerns, as fans play Switch 2 game before release date – NotebookCheck.net News
With some stores breaking Nintendo’s street date, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond leaks are accumulating. One gamer has shared detailed impressions about how Retro Studios has revamped the franchise. The player sheds light on the role of a busybody NPC and whether Metroid Prime 4 is a linear experience.
Recent hands-on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond previews gave a more thorough glimpse into the anticipated Switch and Switch 2 game. Still, many questions about how different the title would be from past entries remained. With some retailers defying the official Metroid Prime 4 release date, impressions are already surfacing. While most comments are positive, some changes could bother diehard fans (spoilers below).
Much to Nintendo’s annoyance, as with Pokémon Legends: Z-A, a few stores are selling the Retro Studios title earlier than expected. Gamers who were thrilled not to have to wait until December 4th are posting box shots on Reddit. Some buyers are relaying their initial experiences in the new Metroid adventure.
According to the Redditor breath_ofthemild, the new release is “very much a new Metroid Prime game (great thing!). Bosses are fun, graphics are great…” The gamer also praises the controls, without specifying if that includes mouse functionality. However, breath_ofthemild wasn’t quite so appreciative of the talkative Myles MacKenzie.
Some fans had hoped that MacKenzie would disappear soon after the tutorial missions. Unfortunately, it seems the engineer will provide advice even later in the game. In one case, he reveals the entire contents of a map, ruining any suspense and sense of isolation. Still, chatter becomes less frequent as the game progresses.
How much will Metroid Prime 4 restrict exploration?
Gamers may also encounter a more open-world structure than previews described. According to the Metroid Prime 4: Beyond leak, players have ample freedom after obtaining the Vi-O-La. The futuristic motorcycle enables Samus to choose different biomes to explore.
The empty desert landscapes have also concerned some supporters. Breath_ofthemild confirms that these areas are mostly vacant, but there is “stuff to look for that makes it fun.” In addition, the fact that the rides usually end quickly may prevent boredom.
The lucky Nintendo fan still has many more gameplay hours to form opinions. It’s doubtful devoted supporters will regret their pre-orders with the Metroid Prime 4 release date nearly here. Nevertheless, it’s unclear if the Switch 2 game can introduce new features without alienating veterans of the series.
