Microsoft is taking another step toward making Windows 11 feel more console-friendly. The company has started rolling out the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) — a simplified, controller-ready interface previously limited to handheld gaming PCs—to regular laptops, desktops, and tablets.

FSE first appeared on devices like the ROG Ally and Ally X, but until now it wasn’t available on standard Windows machines. That’s changing with the latest Windows Insider Preview builds on the Dev and Beta channels. Once the feature reaches your device, you can turn it on by hovering over Task View and selecting Xbox full screen experience, opening it through the Game Bar settings, or simply pressing Win + F11. You’ll need the Xbox app installed for it to work.

The interface gives Windows 11 a cleaner, more console-like feel for anyone using a controller—especially handy when your PC is hooked up to a TV. Microsoft says the rollout is gradual, so not everyone will see the option immediately. The company has also begun pushing FSE to all Windows-based handhelds to keep the experience consistent across devices.
