Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 DLC adds Jurassic World to the world map – NotebookCheck.net News

Microsoft expands Flight Simulator 2024 with a fictional part of the world. The new add-on costs $20 and adds the Jurassic World to the well-known flight simulation.

Andreas Sebayang (translated by Enrico Frahn), Published 11/14/2025 🇩🇪

Microsoft has released an add-on for Flight Simulator 2024, namely “Jurassic World: Archipelago”. It is based on the popular movie franchise, which debuted in theaters in 2015. The add-on is set shortly before the events of the first movie, and arguably does not really fit into a serious simulation. The DLC adds a fictional place near Costa Rica, the actual simulation of aircraft has not been changed.

The add-on further introduces new airports. Specifically, Microsoft Flight Simulator gets 12 new helipads and 9 airfields. Even ICAO codes have been assigned and all start with the corresponding abbreviation JW. Needless to say, these places do not exist in reality. The first letter of the four-character ICAO codes roughly indicates the region of the world. The letter J is not assigned. For example, Vienna has the ICAO code LOWW (not to be confused with the IATA code VIE). Berlin uses EDDB (BER). In the US, ICAO codes are based on IATA codes. In many cases there is a K in front of the airport code (KSFO for San Francisco, SFO).

Like in the movie, there are several dinosaurs to discover in Jurassic World, along with scenes from the film that developer Orbx has integrated into the game in collaboration with Microsoft. A total of nine dinosaurs will appear in the game, including the Tyrannosaurus rex and the Velociraptor, which play major roles in the franchise.

The gameplay includes various activities that cockpit crews must handle, such as photo safaris, transporting important individuals or challenges that test flying skills. The original soundtrack is also part of the DLC.

According to Microsoft, the add-on offers the very first opportunity to explore the fictional places of Jurassic World. As mentioned above, this is a paid DLC and is priced at $20. This appears to be a limited-time launch offer, as the price is set to increase to $25 later on.
