Garmin has brought the Health Status feature to all users of the Index Sleep Monitor. This dedicated sleep tracking wearable was released globally in June 2025.

The new Health Status feature arrived with the Venu 4 smartwatch in September 2025. This sleep-related tool is designed to provide context for some health metrics. Data is captured overnight for the following five metrics: heart rate, heart rate variation (HRV), respiration, skin temperature and pulseOx. In the morning, you can view this data with a comparison to your personal baseline, helping you to understand whether the measurements are average. If they sit outside your typical range, it could indicate some stress on your body, which could be linked to factors like a workout, stress, alcohol consumption or illness.

Health Status arrived for the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor (curr. $169.99 at Amazon) in software version 3.82. This is now available to download via the Garmin Connect app. It was last updated a couple of months ago, when software version 3.71 brought various bug fixes and stability improvements to the wearable.

The Health Status feature is also rolling out to many of the brand’s smartwatches, like the Fenix 8, Venu X1, Vivoactive 6 and Forerunner 570/970, with users receiving the on-watch Health Status Glance, as well as analysis in the Garmin Connect app. Users of other models, like the Venu 3, Vivoactive 5, Forerunner 255, and Fenix 7, can only view the Health Status feature in the smartphone app.
