“One of the most believable game worlds ever”: Immersive medieval RPG now at best price on Steam – 125,000 reviews, 93% positive – NotebookCheck.net News

If you value immersion and player choice in role-playing games, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II might be worth checking out. It’s now available at 30% off on Steam for the first time, making it more affordable than ever.

Marius Müller (translated by Marius Müller), Published 07/31/2025 🇩🇪

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is the second title from Czech developer Warhorse Studios, continuing not only the story, but also the strengths of its predecessor. Once again, players step into the shoes of Henry, a blacksmith’s son navigating the war-torn, intrigue-filled world of 15th-century Bohemia. The game offers a high degree of freedom, allowing players to approach missions with a sword, through stealth or by using diplomacy in dialogue. The world reacts realistically to Henry’s choices, influencing both NPC behavior and the unfolding story. Rather than generic tasks like “kill five wolves” or “collect ten herbs,” players experience well-crafted side quests rich in narrative depth.

GamePro’s German review highlighted the game’s impressively authentic world as a major strength. Beyond the well-designed quests, it praised the richly detailed environments, which feel visually striking and atmospherically consistent. Nearly every action influences Henry’s abilities, with carrying heavy loads boosting strength and frequent archery improving aim – a system that greatly enhances immersion. The German gaming magazine GameStar even called Kingdom Come: Deliverance II “one of the most believable game worlds ever.” Despite its vast scope, the game avoids filler content or artificial padding. Its impressive playtime – up to 130 hours according to HowLongToBeat – emerges naturally from the depth of its storytelling.

Despite widespread praise, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is not without its flaws. GamePro noted that the main story often lacks the appeal of the richly told side quests and doesn’t always offer the same level of player freedom found elsewhere in the game. While the combat system has seen clear improvements over its predecessor, fights against multiple enemies can still be frustrating – one of the few weaknesses carried over from the original. Even so, GamePro awarded the game a strong score of 87 out of 100. Metacritic reflects a similarly positive response, with a Metascore of 88 and a User Score of 8.7. On Steam, the RPG has gathered over 125,000 player reviews since launch, with an impressive 93% rating it positively – well ahead of the first game’s 83%.

By the way: While it’s not essential to play the first game, it is definitely recommended – Deliverance II picks up right where its predecessor left off. Conveniently, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is currently 80% off on Steam until August 1.

    30% discount on Steam

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II launched in February 2025 and usually sells for around $60 on Steam. However, it is currently available at a 30% discount, bringing the price down to about $42 – the lowest so far, according to SteamDB. The game is also rated as “Playable” on the Steam Deck (available on Amazon for $475), and with a few tweaks, it should run smoothly on the go.
