OnePlus 15 leaks point to downgrades in camera and haptics – NotebookCheck.net News

The OnePlus 15, rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, may have downgrades from its predecessor. New leaks suggest smaller primary and telephoto camera sensors, and weaker haptics due to a smaller haptic motor.

Rumored to launch in October, the OnePlus 15 is expected to be a flagship smartphone succeeding the OnePlus 13. There have been many leaks and rumors about the device, including the latest one revealing its design. Moreover, the global model of the OnePlus 15 recently received certification. Now, new leaks have surfaced revealing a couple of downgrades over its predecessor.

According to user @OnePlusClub on the social media site X, the OnePlus 15 will feature a triple rear camera setup. It is said to have a 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 1/1.56” sensor size. For comparison, the OnePlus 13 has a larger 50MP 1/1.43″ primary sensor with an f/1.6 aperture. The larger sensor size and aperture mean improved low-light performance and more details.

Additionally, the OnePlus 15 is tipped to have a 50MP 1/2.75″ ISOCELL JN5 telephoto sensor with an f/2.8 aperture and 3x optical zoom. Meanwhile, its predecessor has a larger 50MP Sony LYT-600 1/1.95″ sensor with an f/2.6 aperture. The ultra-wide camera on the upcoming phone may remain unchanged from the OnePlus 13, using the same 50MP ISOCELL JN5.

One more major change in the camera system of the OnePlus 15 is the lack of Hasselblad color tuning. The company recently announced that the partnership with Hasselblad is over, and they would use the in-house DetailMax Engine.

Another downgrade revealed by the same source is in haptics. The haptic motor will reportedly be downgraded from the AAC CSA+0916Turbo (602mm²) in the OnePlus 13 to the smaller AAC ESA1016 (560mm²) in the OnePlus 15. A smaller haptic motor can mean weaker vibrations and less precise feedback.

For now, all this information comes from an unofficial source. The company is yet to announce the details regarding the OnePlus 15, so take the above information with a grain of salt.
