The Orange Pi 6 Plus is a new single-board computer that is advertised with a particularly high performance for AI applications. Therefore, it features an NPU with up to 45 TOPS. This would put the Orange Pi 6 Plus on the same level as current AMD and Intel chipsets, at least in terms of NPU performance. For example, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has an AI performance of 40 TOPS. Such a high AI performance can be useful to run various AI models locally on the SBC. For example, checking a live camera feed for signs of a fire in a remote location could be a possible use case.
The Orange Pi 6 Plus is equipped with an SoC with twelve cores and depending on the configuration, the LPDDR5 memory has a capacity of 16, 32 or 64GB. Several M.2 2280 slots for SSDs are available, but users can also install an M.2 Key E card for WiFi and Bluetooth. As usual, this single-board computer also has an SD card reader.
Furthermore, the SBC has two Ethernet ports with a bandwidth of 5 Gbps. Multiple monitors can be hooked up via DisplayPort, USB Type C, HDMI and eDP. Tinkerers can also connect cameras via MIPI CSI, and there are also two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 Type A ports. The Raspberry Pi 5 alternative measures approximately 4.5 by 3.9 inches and offers 40-pin GPIO header. Pricing and launch details for the new Orange Pi 6 Plus are not available just yet.
